SKETCHBOOK

2013 - 2014

This is perhaps my earliest completed sketchbook. It's a spiral-bound drawing pad from Target. At this point I hadn't really developed an art style yet. I was jumping back and forth from trying to emulate western cartoons, and copying out of "how to draw anime" books from the library. But this is where I found my passion for creating and designing characters.

Adventure Time self-insert character.

Ginger Coleman, the protagonist of the novel I was writing about kids with powers going to boarding school. She had telekinesis and was "the chosen one" or something I don't remember I never finished writing it.

Jade Harrison, one of her best friends. She could run really fast.

Veronica Styles, what a name. Mean popular girl. She could change her appearance to look like other people.

Lots of character designs for a comic about storm elementals that I never got around to making.

More art of the aforementioned novel.

Anime!!! (0_0)

Yet another character design for a comic I worked on for like 2 days and then forgot about. She has water powers. I had such a strong fixation with elemental powers at this age and I hadn't even watched Avatar yet. Little me was missing OUT.

We're entering my Doctor Who era around here.

I thought this was the most hilarious 4 panel comic ever made.

One of my favorite drawing activities was personifying songs as characters. I think I was on a road trip listening to my pink ipod nano and I made character designs for Paramore's self-titled album.

Just some silly little guys at the end, very Adventure Time-inspired.
