SKETCHBOOK

2014

Baby's first Moleskine! This marks the beginning of my sort-of emo phase. A lot of my art from this sketchbook was heavily inspired by the bands I was listening to, and kawaii emo art I'd often see online.

Aaaaand starting off strong! From left to right that's Draco Malfoy, the 10th Doctor, and Artemis Fowl. And then me of course. Fun fact, the overalls I drew myself wearing were a real clothing item I owned and wore all the time.

This was my depiction of a "typical teenage girl" in the year 2014. High-waisted shorts, layered hair with a deep side part, combat boots, and of course, starbucks. This was very "I'm not like other girls" of me, but at the same time, I think I secretly wanted to be her.

These next few drawings are character designs for a comic I wanted to make about a girl getting shrunk down to an inch tall, and meeting all these tiny garden creatures. All of them are based on either plants or bugs.

These were all characters in a seven-part story I was writing for my homeschool co-op's newsletter called "Me and Tony Bullet."

More character designs based on Paramore songs. This time I chose Riot!

Trying to learn how to draw clothing folds.

More characters based on songs.

More drawings from the story I was writing. In this little comic, we see Tony, one of our protagonists, embarrassed that Violet, a supporting character, is wearing a shirt that says "Toniper Forever." Toniper is the ship name I came up with for Tony, and the other protagonist, Juniper.

This was my favorite drawing in this sketchbook. I was so proud of it, I would show it to everyone I knew. I even redrew it at some point in 2016.
